Crabbing is done in November and December. Crabbing is dependent on the Tide. Every incoming tide brings crab into the Astoria estuary. 8 to 10 pots are baited and set 20 to 50 feet down and let sit for a while and then pulled. The crabs are sorted and keepers go into the live well.
The limit for Astoria Dungeness crab is 12 per person per day. Only males of a minimum size are kept. Trips are 3 to 5 hours long.
